An inception meeting for the second phase of the Universal Periodic Review in Uganda

LWF Uganda held and inception meeting for the second phase of the Universal Periodic Review Project. The Inception meeting was attended by representatives from Local and International Civil Society Organizations, Uganda Human Rights Commission, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Chair Person of the Human Rights Committee of the Parliament of Uganda among others.

Prior to the Launch, a discourse on the place of Human Rights in Humanitarian aid was held. Humanitarian organizations were called upon to emphasize Human Rights of refugees in their project implementation processes. The participants thereafter signed a commitment board pledging their support to the implementation of the recommendations made to Uganda during the review of Uganda’s Human Right record.
